Before I recommend any treatment, I carry out a full survey to find the exact cause of moisture. Too often people are told they have “damp” without any testing or measurement.
My approach follows the Property Care Association (PCA) Code of Practice and British Standards BS 6576:2015 (for rising damp) and BS 8102:2022 (for below-ground waterproofing). That means evidence, not guesswork.

3️⃣ Moisture Profiling – Take readings from floor to 1 m height to plot a rising-damp curve.
4️⃣ Salt Analysis – Identify nitrates or chlorides to confirm groundwater involvement.
5️⃣ Thermal & Humidity Checks – Assess condensation risk and ventilation levels.
6️⃣ Reporting – Produce a clear document with findings and recommended specification.
